We are now able to offer our newly completed stand alone Chalet called The Oarhouse with a much envied aspect overlooking Lake Karapiro. It has two suites each with either one Californian bed plus one single or three single beds for up to 6 guests. Each suite has its own en-suite. There is a large lounge / dining room with schist fireplace, full kitchen, separate laundry, carport and extensive decking overlooking the lake. We feel The Oar House would not be out of place amongst New Zealand’s finest.

This peaceful location is positioned for a day of relaxation, adventure or a road trip to Rotorua, Waitomo, and other destinations. A unique self-contained Studio with private courtyard, BBQ, private ensuite and kitchenette with continental breakfast provided. The Studio comes with air-conditioning, seating area, along with a modern and relaxing décor and privacy. Matamata Lodge is the perfect location to base yourself for one night or more. With so many local attractions and experiences like the Hobbiton Movie, Te Waihou Walkway, Blue Water Springs and Wairere Falls at your doorstep. Unwind and soak in the scenery of rolling pastures, Kaimai ranges, stunning sunsets and star gazing.

Lakeview Lodge comprises of The Huntington, The Hamptons and The Boat House, each having their own unique style & charm. Ideal for groups, the Huntington accommodates up to 12 guests, The Hamptons up to 10 and The Boat House up to 10. Bijou options are available for smaller groups of 2 - 4. Lakeview continental breakfast is included in your stay, as are many other amenities including a fully self-contained kitchen, BBQ equipment, laundry room and quality linen. Both main lodges have private outdoor deck areas with lake views and The Boat House is lake side. Catering is available. The lodge is situated close by popular visitor attractions.

The original homestead was known in the area for the beautiful cottage gardens and specimen trees. There are some beautiful examples of a hundred plus year old Kauri, Copper beech and magnificent magnolia trees which the tui love to visit. During its history, there have been many families live in the villa with each generation adding their love and attention to the property. The bedrooms that are lovingly restored are named from the families or significant aspects of its history. There are many Victorian features in the villa including original tiled fireplaces, polished floors, leadlight windows and doors and high ceilings. Fully renovated June 2019.

The Oar & Paddle boasts the best view of Lake karapiro on the sunny, sheltered left bank. Ideal accommodation for family or groups of friends, wedding preparation and a honeymoon hideaway. Bike trails and walks are close at hand at Te Awa over-water boardwalk cycle way, only minutes from your door. Follow the boardwalk to the Mighty River Domain and the Don Rowlands Centre, or simply view the rowing course right from your room. Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari and many adventure activities are at your doorstep. The Oar & Paddle offers a grandstand view of the rowing, canoe racing, New Zealand Grand Prix (NZGP) Hydroplanes, Waterski Racing and Waka Ama. The Oar & Paddle is right in the middle of Middle Earth only 18km away from Hobbiton.
